Eaglemoss ALIENS Collection Review
Makers of arguably some of the most stunning and well-crafted collectibles to hit the scene,
Eaglemoss> has
looked to expand their reach with a new line of highly-detailed collectible figures from both the
Alien & Predator Universes!
Well known in the hobby community for their collection of figurines and die-cast models, Eaglemoss has successfully branched out into a variety of licensed properties such as Marvel, D.C.,
Doctor Who, James Bond, The Walking Dead, and of course, their incredible Star Trek "Starships" collection. Adding to the fun, most collectibles come packaged with such pack-ins as
posters, in-depth encyclopedic fact files, and more.
One of the things we think makes Eaglemoss figures so appealing is that they're small enough for what we like to call, SFW, or "Safe For Work."
Take a NECA figure to the office and you might pull some looks from your HR department or other non Alien fans - but with the Eaglemoss
figures you'll be able to let your Alien phreak flag fly and turn your cubicle or office space into a hive of your very own.
To kick off the line, Eaglemoss has started with the most iconic figure in all the mythology, the classic "Alien Warrior Xenomorph" as seen in the
film that started it all, 1979's A L I E N.
From Eaglemoss: "In celebration of one of science fiction's most loved and enduring series of films, Eaglemoss Collections has joined with Twentieth
Century Fox Consumer Products to answer the demands of sci-fi fans with the introduction of the first and only authorized collection of figurines based
on characters from the Alien, Predator, AVP, and Prometheus movie franchises.
The Xenomorph (Alien) is a skeletal terror with acid for blood, a vicious tail and two sets of lethal jaws.
Born from the stuff of nightmares, it quickly grew from the diminutive parasite that burst from the best of office Kane, to a
terrifying monster that stalked the crew of Nostromo. Presented in a standing attack pose with its recently shed skin, the
creature's structural perfection is matched only by its hostility.
The Alien and Predator Figurine Collection features the most iconic characters and creatures from all of the Alien and Predator movies.
This highly detailed hand-painted model is cast in metallic resin and stands at approximately 5.5 inches tall."

Packaging
We give the packaging an easy 10 out of 10. All these figures come inside a window box that's as sturdy as it is fun to look at. One of the
things we love to see here at alienscollection.com is when companies venture outside the standard "Alien" packaging design and come up
with some new stuff on their own. Emblazoned with unique art on the sides and back, the Eaglemoss Aliens Collection figures feature new
illustrations and photography along with a colorful design that evokes both the "Alien" theme and the spirit of the figure inside. Informative
call outs highlight not only the figure inside, but tease at future releases across all the franchises.
Within the box, the figure is well-sealed inside a double clamshell and foam padding at the base, extra steps to not only protect the figure
in shipping, but also ensuring it'll look great displayed both inside the box and out of the packaging.

Sculpt
While we love everything about this little statue, choosing a pose that reflects the menacing of the Alien can,
well, "pose" a challenge (see what we did there). With its outstretched arms and sense of forward momentum, the
Alien Xenomorph looks ready to leap and poised for attack. The sculpting here is excellent and really captures the
iconic nature of this classic creature. Some may criticize the lack of a "clear" dome over the skull, but the paint
job here does a really fantastic job of taking on that original detail.
Solidly constructed with an extremely well done paint application that perfectly captures the Alien's fierce, nightmarish
look leads us to give this one a solid 10 out of 10.

Figure Base
We have an affinity for the details here at alienscollection.com, and this little figure is no exception. The base has a
nice weight and heft to it, and is packed with fun details sculpted right in. With everything from Brett's infamous
"Nostromo Patch" crew hat on the ground, to the ubiquitous floor grating seen everywhere on the ship,
it's the addition of these extra little touches that add an extra "fun factor" to the figure. The bottom of the figure
is coated with a nice black felt to protect the figure and prevent scratching on hard surfaces. Again, an extra little
detail we really appreciate. Additionally, the base is hexagonally shaped for linking up to future releases in the
collection.
If we had to nitpick, we'd love to see even more little details - Ripley's cat box perhaps, but even that criticism is a
real stretch as you don't want anything to take away from the figure. That said, we're giving the base a 10 out of 10.

Future Releases
While this first figure from the Eaglemoss Alien/Predator is an absolute win, what has us especially excited is what
they have planned for upcoming releases. With an extensive range of dynamic characters to draw from, including
never-before-seen figural iterations of such classic characters as Alien Resurrection's Johner, the Deacon
from Prometheus, and others - almost all of these planned figures are sure to land at the top of many collector's
"must have" lists.

Final Thoughts
Overall, we really can't give this little guy enough praise - it's like having a smaller version of a much more expensive statue ready to go
and display in your favorite place. This first figure is incredibly fun and well-crafted, and is sure to
look as good on your desk as it does on your shelves. We really can't wait to see more from what seems to be an
extensive line of Alien/Predator characters to choose from. Just a few years shy of the first film's 40th Anniversary, we here at
alienscollection.com are thrilled that companies are still producing such wonderful collectibles all these years later.
If we did have a single criticism, it would be maybe some additional information and pics on the pack-in poster. Eaglemoss is known
for going the extra mile with the goodies, so maybe collectible cards or something similar to the "fact-files" that come with some of
their other properties. But that's not really a knock, just a suggestion - so be and sure and subscribe and/or pick the up the Alien
Xenomorph at your local comic shop as soon as you can!
